"Lack of compassion"

About: NHS Lanarkshire

(as a relative),

Following the death of a relative recently I contacted the Joint Equipment Store in Motherwell to arrange the uplift of a bed.  The family's wish was to have the bed removed prior to the body being returned to their home in advance of the funeral.

They did not want the bed in the middle of the living room when friends and extended family members were visiting to pay their respects.  Nor did the family want a constant reminder of the difficult time they, and their loved one, had experienced in the lead up to the death.  The grieving process is difficult enough.

I was told, apologetically, there was a 4 week waiting time!

The death of a relative is an extremely distressing time for any family.  Why make it more difficult?

Dear Tagla05

please accept my condolences on the death of your relative. I understand how difficult a time this must have been for you and your family and I am sorry that we have added to the distress you were experiencing.

We are going to look into this delay with the joint equipment store to identify the issues and work to resolve them.

I would be happy to explore this further with you and provide specific feedback on any changes we make. You can contact our patient affairs team on 01698858321 to pass on your details or call me direct on 07824598405

Kind regards

Trudi
