I can understand why the anaesthetist tried to change my mind and the risks of a general etc but I was my choice and I had already made it. I was made to feel silly to want the general and I had a few tears until Dr Hanna stepped in (he could see I was becoming distressed).
On the Thursday night the nurse didnt check on me till midnight. It was Dr Hannas call that made her realise I was there. Some how she had forgotten me, she was very apologetic and I did have my call point if I’d needed anything. I didnt come to any harm but I did think it was a bit careless.
The nursing staff were fantastic and the lady that takes the blood was so caring and funny she really put me at ease before surgery. The carers are fantastic and work really hard always cheerful. Well done to you all.
I did get all the leaflets on discharge but 12 weeks seems like a long time to wait for a check up after such major surgery. I did have a bleed at 8 weeks and was really scared. I eventually called the unit for advice and spoke to a nurse who reassured me it was probably a stitch pulling and not to worry. She said to call back the next week if it hadnt stopped luckily it had and I was ok.
I had my 12 week check up with dr hanna early sept 11 and the lovely Dr examined me and confirmed I’d healed nicely and was fit for work.
I feel totally happy with my experience at your hospital. It was spotlessly clean. The food is the only thing that was disapointing but I was only in a short time and was a bit sickly and therefore not too hungry so I could cope.
