"Skill and professional care"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Neurosurgery (Ward 64 – 66) University Hospital Hairmyres / General Surgery (Ward 5)

(as the patient),

I feel compelled to write yet again about the  wonderful NHS .  I have already commented 2 yrs ago about my experience in Monklands.

My journey this time began with headaches and lack of peripheral vision.  While this was being investigated  I then experienced inability to move my left foot which prompted me  to meet my daughter at Hairmyres Hospital for further investigation. We were attended by a young lady doctor Marion who felt my symptoms merited a brain scan. The result unfortunately showed a brain tumour. I have to commend the doctor on her care and quick action through her communication with The southern General hospital. I was admitted to Hairmyres for 4 days while waiting for a bed in  the QEUH

Once in the QEUH  and after a some days of investigation and time to reduce inflammation I had the tumour removed by 2 wonderful neurosurgeons  Mr. Khan and Mr. St George,   I have so much respect and gratitude for all the nurses and doctors in both hospitals ward 4 Hairmyres and Ward 65 QEUH  who looked after me especially  those mentioned above  and nurse Margaret who helped me thorough a difficult time in QEUH.

Aftercare is continued by  oncologists  Mr Nowicki, Professor Jones and  Dr Venugopal and very  caring specialist nurse Mary and Dr Cox opthamologist. I thank them all again for their skill and professional care in keeping me well.
