I have no real issue with the Receptionist who I have mostly found to be very polite, except on one occasion when I had a particularly bad chest infection and wanted to see the Dr, I was unable to do so. Why ? because there is no patient car parking at this surgery. When my chest is bad (I'm asthmatic) there is no way can I walk from either the carpark at the rear of The Cricketers or from the precinct carpark. I asked the Receptionist if I could use the carpark at the rear of the surgery, to which I was asked if i was disabled. When I answered "no", but said I couldnt walk from either of the carparks, I was told that it was "not the surgeries problem" and that I should make alternative arrangements to get there. The only alternative arrangement would be to get a taxi which is an expense that I cannot afford and I'm sure many elderly patients feel the same. At the moment I have an issue with severe back pain / pulled muscle, but I'm not even going to bother wasting my time trying to see a Dr as I know I wont be able to get there. I know the NHS dont have to provide parking for GP patients but I'm sure if they have a carpark and the reason is a valid one, then allowances could be made.
