"Excellent care"

About: Princess Anne Hospital

What I liked

I had to be induced and was very nervous about what would happen. However, from the moment I arrived I was made to feel extremely at ease. Things did not go well with the induction but I was kept informed at all stages as to what was going on and what the next stages would be. I ended up having to have an emergency C-section at 4am the following morning. During this time I saw many midwives and doctors, students etc. Every single one of them treated me so well and I couldn't have asked for any better care. Following the birth of my son the midwife sat patiently and helped me to feed him for 40 minutes as I didn't have the strength in my arms to hold him. Following this I transferred up to the Burley Ward and the whole time I was there was looked after extremely well. Nobody did anything without first asking my permission and nothing felt like it was too much trouble. In the middle of the night my baby wouldn't settle and so one of the midwives took him off for a few hours so that I could get some rest. After all the negative comments from people about the Princess Anne in general, I was so surprised to find that actually it was the best place to be to feel fully looked after and in very safe hands. I would like to say a big thanks to seven midwives, two doctors and the anaesthetist. There were many more staff who helped to look after me and so a big thanks to them too. ps It was a real bonus having so many students around as it just meant more care available.

What could be improved

To be honest I'm not sure that anything could have been improved upon apart from the public being more aware of the fantastic service provided rather than the negative image that seems to be the case.
