I recently attended St.Peters Hospital for a laparoscopic cholecystectomy, I have to say that the level of service, care and dedication of all those I encountered was outstanding.
From arrival to discharge the professionalism shown by all those I came into contact with could not be faulted. I did have to stay in overnight (Falcon Ward) due to a minor problem, which allowed me to bear witness to the aftercare of recovering patients, and here too the care and compassion demonstrated by staff was truly outstanding. One patient I suspect was suffering from Alzheimers, or something similar, was unable to feed himself but the nurse and an agency nurse patiently fed him mouthful by mouthful, whilst offering him encouragement throughout. As for the catering, here again the choice and quality of food on offer was excellent. We sometimes take the NHS for granted, but it’s only when you personally experience its services do you realise just how lucky we are in the U.K.
