What I liked

The overall period was quite pleasing.

I would like to mention the truely splended level of service and care I had recieved by the staff in the Chronary Care Unit, who treated me with the upmost respect and dignity during my time there. They were always cheerful, efficient, welcoming and helpful in every way, at all times of the day and night.

What could be improved

Some of the staff could be better informed of the patients medical conditions, and some should also take into account of what personal or previous experience and knowledge the patient have regarding their own conditions.

Taking into account of diatary requirements when preparing the meals for people who have just been relocated to a ward and have missed the menu selections handed out prior to their transference.

Anything else?

I have very little to say negatively regarding this hospital, although there are always areas which you find could need improving:

I had been admitted to the hospital with suspected Diabetes and extreme difficulty breathing. The morning after I was admitted, I felt very faint, to the point of actually losing consciousness, and felt that it was because of having nothing to eat the day before. I asked one of the nurses on the ward at the time about having something to eat, who spoke to me quite rudely and after asking me to go back to my bed, seeing that I was having trouble breathing, raised her voice to me, almost to the degree I was call shouting and ordered me to bed, to which I had to walk back and lean on my bed while literally gasping for air. Thankfully I was admitted to the CCU the same day.

After I had been moved from the CCU, I was given a meal which did not fit with my diatary requirements. I said to the woman handing out the food that I could have some of the food as I had had it previously without any issue with my condition. This nurse however took it upon herself to instruct me on what I should be eating and why I was taking insulin injections. She had said that I couldn't have custard because it would bring my sugar level up, to which I responded with "That's why I take insulin, so my body stores it and brings my sugar down", to which she replied, quite rudely I might add "No, that's not what it's for!" She avoided/ignored me during the rest of her shift. My mother has had diabetes during my entire life and I know quite a lot about diabetes as a result. Like some of the nurses said in the CCU, "I took to the treatment regime like a duck to water", and personally I found it quite uncomfortable that a nurse would speak to me in such a way without any consideration that I knew something about the condition I was diagnosed with.
