I came to A & E on Sunday 12th May at approx 5.40pm. I went to reception and checked in as normal. Saw the nurse who said I could have a long wait (which I told her I was happy to do so) as I needed to get stitches out that were starting to get painful and itchy. At no point was this an issue with any staff member til.I came across a member of staff who then started in a barrage of abuse about why im there basically saying in a condescending manner, "did I not see the big A & E sign as I came in" her tone was derogatory and rude and in the time she sat me there and basically abused me for being in the hospital she could have taken out my stitches!
I'm not a confrontational person so I left crying as I was informed this wouldn't have been a problem. As I'm self employed I don't get paid to take leave from work, that she instructed me to do , hence why I went to hospital.
I'm so disgusted at her behaviour, manner and tone with me and considering she is a nurse employed by the NHS I don't understand why it was such a problem where I got my treatment from!
Communication between staff needs to.be addressed, if I was told at check in that I shouldn't be there then I would have left, but instead was informed that I could be treated and still ended up with no treatment and feeling upset and annoyed for going there in the first place.
"Never have I ever been made to feel so insulted"
