I was taking my 94 year old mother to the fracture clinic for follow up. It is situated in the lower ground floor of the Hartshead Building. Having a plaster cast on her right wrist was affecting her balance and the main entrance is a considerable uphill climb to the main entrance to the building from the multi-storey car park. We had been driving round the hospital site for over half an hour trying to park which meant a last minute rush to get to clinic on time. So we decided to see if there was access through the much closer main A& E. We discovered unfortunately that there isn’t an official route. However a very helpful receptionist (Loraine) seeing how frail my mother was, very kindly escorted us to the fracture clinic showing such extra care and consideration beyond what might have been expected. It made such a difference to getting her there on time and in a positive state of mind. All the staff in the clinic were attentive and supportive, so much appreciated.
