What I liked
After a 'life-time' of needing very little recourse to the Health Service, I am now 'of an age' (65) where, like a car, various things need attention.. I have therefore needed (i) fairly regular blood tests - I have used the appointment system and this works brilliantly.. The staff have always been nothing less than friendly, polite and professional (especially considering they must have the same conversation with every patient!).. and the results prompt.
Equally, I have had occasion to visit the Mental Health Team for a condition-related anxiety.. and, let me tell you(!), the reception and treatment I received - especially by my Consultant Doctor - was so personal, so perceptive, so empathic - he was so spot-on with 'how it was for me' I was in tears that somebody understood..
...and perhaps meaningful to me now I have a diagnosis of early stage Parkinsons is the absolute and genuine care, openness and personal relationship I have with my Specialist Nurse - please don't ever let her think of changing jobs, she is 'the best!'..
Never be afraid of visiting the RVH - they are everything a good local hospital/team could possibly be..
