I am an ordinary middle aged woman with no ill or adverse health conditions. Whilst driving on the motorway I felt chest pain, numbness and was beginning to feel faint. So pulled over on the hard shoulder and phoned for an ambulance. My fear was I was having a mild heart attack at the side of the M23.
Whilst sitting in the car ( I know you should sit away from the car on the hard shoulder but I felt too unwell) I was distressed and beginning to hyperventilate, so by the time the Paramedics arrived I was truly frightened.
When they arrived I cannot speak more highly of their care, competence and compassion. Two young men who are a credit to their profession.
The handover to A&E staff was quick, clear and proficient. The nursing staff were equally focussed, highly competent and compassionate.
Test were quickly carried out. The Doctor in charge of my care was impressive in his understanding and insight, his direction of my care and his interpersonal skills.
"An A&E admission."
