I cannot say enough good things about the maternity services in Croydon and Purley community team. From week 27 I started to develop complications which was picked up by the community team and thanks to the excellent consistent care I received in Triage and my consultant I got to 37 weeks. During my pregnancy I was admitted to Hope ward twice (week 30 & 35) and got to know a lot of the midwives there so when it came to being admitted for my induction I felt part of the furniture on the ward. My little lady arrived safe and healthy via c-section. The next morning I suffered serious complications and thanks to the swift, calm and professionalism of the midwives on Mary ward I was rushed to Theatre within 10 mins and an amazing team of people worked miracles on me. While in Theatre staff were excellent at reassuring my mum and husband, they ensured they were ok while I was in theatre. While in recovery so many midwives who had looked after me and Baby during the pregnancy popped into see us as they had been so invested in providing us with the highest level of care plus they are all naturally caring people and want the best for their patients. The one thing that I feel is really important and not always provided in the health care setting is, I felt empowered because I was listened too, all midwives and my consultant listened to what I had to say and never doubted me, I was involved in the decision making process every step of the way. I was in hospital for 7 days after having my baby and the support I received from everyone was out of this world, they are all angels who walk among us and will forever hold a very special place in my heart as not only did they provide me with a healthy baby but they also saved my life!
