"Sons broken Tibia Bone."

About: Alexandra Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

To start on a negative the waiting time for my son was quite long (nearly 2 hours) and he's only 15 months old so he got very agitated.

We thought the temporary cast would be removed and replaced with a permanent cast but the doctor said he could continue with the temporary cast even though he didn't even touch it...??? He also said that the cast would be taken off at our local GP's, our GP phoned last night and said they don't perform this as it needs to be done at the fracture clinic which actually makes sense as the leg will surely need to x-rayed again to make sure the break has fused back together and healed you would think...?

Also surprised that he only has to wear the temporary cast for 2 weeks.

The staff were helpful and the experience was okay apart from the above.
