About: Emersons Green Medical Centre

My family joined this practice after moving into the area and have been very disappointed with the service when compared to our last practice Air Balloon.

Here is a list of complaints I have with the practice:

We have never been assigned a doctor.

Every time you ring you can never get through the phone just rings and rings there is no call waiting/queuing system in place.

3-4 weeks to get an appointment to see a doctor.

Appointments not being released far enough in advance.

There is a reluctance to do any testing; it feels like you have to continuously push to get the right treatment.

I was prescribed anti-bacterial eye drops over the phone by a nurse. When I saw the optician who works in Bristol Eye Hospital he told me that drops should never be prescribed without first seeing the eyes!

Repeat prescriptions not being signed when promised.

Expectations that the pharmacy will accept unsigned prescriptions.

Thank you for your comments and sorry that you feel the service provided at the surgery has been disappointing. We release appointments for routine face to face and telephone 6 weeks prior. We unfortunately do not release any further as it is essential that the clinical team can book training and annual leave without having to cancel clinics.

Our new phone system has identified a few errors and we are in the process of getting these faults checked with the phone company. As you are aware we are trying to recruit more doctors however there is a national shortage of GP's at the present time. If you can contact the surgery with your details I can look into your complaint further and I can then comment fully on the reasons behind your recent treatment.
