First off I have nothing bad to say about my treatment and stay, but about the manner in which i was talked to prior to my discharge by a Rheumatologist.
It all started with a visit to the Eye Clinic they were very kind throughout and made me feel at ease, explained everything in detail told me what was happening and what i was being checked for and why. My BP was checked and it was very high i was taken round to AMU where i was looked after very well again had everything explained to me bloods were taken and told why. I was then told I would have to be admitted to control the BP admitted to George Earl Ward very caring too.
This is where the story then starts to change but not because of what the Doctors or Consultant said. Because I had the blood tests done one of them was for inflamation in the blood this had come back raised, Consultant and doctor came and asked questions and other things said that the raise could be a cause of concern and named a condition he though it may be. But would need another blood test to check, if the levels were normal I could go home...... this next one came back with levels raised again from Rheumatology, so it was sort of confirmed i had this condition so was put immediately on to a course of steroids and told to stay in over night (and go home later in the day) for another blood test in the morning and maybe a biopsy.
Then all of a sudden a staff member appeared by the bed saying they were a Rheumatologist and had come to see me and ask questions etc etc, told me in no uncertain terms that i did not have the condition, i did not have all the symptoms, i was too young, and who ever told me I had it didn't know what they were talking about .(It was emotional enough to be in hospital with something only to be told you had something else but this was the last straw i was so choked up i could not talk properly). Told me to have more blood tests and to go home and see them at the end of the month.
"I was so choked up i could not talk properly"
