Appalling.
Tried to get an appointment to see my GP after my back went at the gym but GP wouldn't give me an appointment & told me to go to A&E or urgent treatment centre.
I didn't want to go to A&E as it wasn't life or death but I didn't want to go to the urgent treatment centre because they had previously misdiagnosed a gout attack in my husband's knee telling him it was just strained.
(After a weekend of absolute agony he managed to see his GP who took one look at his knee & said, 'that's gout').
I saw the triage nurse quite quickly but then the waiting time on the matrix sign continually increased whilst I was there which you expect.
Unfortunately the chairs in the waiting room were quite low which made it hard to get up & down from with a bad back.
After a couple of hours I saw the doctor & explained how my back had gone & that I'd been having issues with my back prior to that.
He did not even look at my back & didn't appear to be listening to anything I was saying.
He told me to take co-codamol & that was it.
I asked how I could get the cause of the problem diagnosed & he told me there was no point because the treatment would be the same - painkillers.
I asked about a physiotherapy referral & was told to speak to my GP!
He is a doctor.
Why could he not make a referral?
I felt like I'd been made to waste his time & that he wanted me out of his room asap.
I was not impressed with his patch 'em up & ship 'em out mentality.
And I know he didn't listen to me properly because when I spoke to my GP as I was experiencing some negative side effects of the co-codamol he read out the notes from my visit to the Urgent treatment Centre which we inaccurate.
I have since been to see an osteopath who has diagnosed a twisted pelvis.
Thanks Crawley Urgent Treatment Centre!
