"Paramedics who attended to my mum"

About: South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust / Emergency ambulance South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust / NHS 111

(as a relative),

My mum had had a bout of flu and was having difficulty breathing. I called 111 to ask for advice. The person who took the call spoke to my mum and decided an ambulance was needed due to her breathing difficulties.

Two  paramedics, Kirk and Sonia, spent 2 hours with my mum conducting lots of tests and an ECG. They were both very caring and helpful. Mum needed antibiotics as the breathing problems were due to a chest infection.

Kirk and Sonia got hold of an out-of-hours GP and arranged for the prescription as it would have been a longer and more convoluted process for us. This took the stress out of the situation. This is a brilliant service to have.

Dear Yankeeew97,

Thank you for taking the time to share your story and I hope your mum is recovering well.

It is always rewarding to hear stories of how our staff are delivering care and support to patients and those around them when they need it most.

We would be happy to share your story with the ambulance staff involved in this instance, however, to do so we will need some specific information. If you would like us to do this, please may I ask you to contact us on either plaudits@swast.nhs.uk or 01392 453 831 and a member of the Patient Engagement Team will be happy to help you further.

Thank you, again, for taking the time to provide us with feedback.

Kind regards,

Sharifa
