"I will never forget your care"

About: Aberdeen Maternity Hospital / Obstetrics (Maternity care)

(as a service user),

I was rushed into Aberdeen at 32 weeks pregnant with my twins, with a history of early labours and pre term births (I had lost a baby early the year before at 24 weeks).

I was sent to Dundee but was discharged days later. I went back to ARI still in early labour at 34 weeks where I was given the news they could only find one heartbeat on the scan. I cannot fault the care I got from that moment.

My twins were born in June, my daughter was stillborn and my son was needing neonatal care. Rubislaw ward was fantastic, they allowed me and my family to say goodbye, they took photos and foot and hand prints (which I now have tattooed) and took me to see my son whenever I wanted.

I can't praise Rubislaw or the neonatal at Aberdeen enough for all they did back then, right down to the three matching teddies they gave me. My daughter was buried with hers, and I have mine and my son's in the living room with one of her photos.

Keep up the good work. I will never forget what you all did for me xx.

Dear kayleighs mum

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts with us. I am so very sorry for your loss. It takes such a lot of strength and courage to share such a personal story with us, and we are so grateful for your gracious comments.

The staff in Rubislaw and Neonatal will be delighted that their care helped you through such a sad time. The personal touch makes such a difference, and the matching teddies sound so wonderful, and I'm sure add to all your treasured memories of your daughter.

Thank you again, and all the very best to you and your family.

Jane
