"Life after the My hip operation"

About: Barlborough NHS Treatment Centre

After suffering increasing pain due to a injury sustained whilst playing squash and pain within my right hip over a period of 5 years i opted for a replacement hip. This was authorised as a referral by my doctor. This has transformed my life. At the age of 61 I could not do normal things like taking the dog for a walk, play a proper game of squash, mow the lawn, difficulty going up and down stairs and having to do restricted activities at work ect. Yesterday after 9 weeks of having my operation I went back on the squash court and suffered no pain. I am now living a normal life pain free right hip doing the things i could not do as mentioned above.

I was very nervous about having the operation as i had never had one in my life. I would like to thank the staff from the consultation department to having my operation, the professional attitude from the nurses, X ray department, cleaners, admin staff, the man who gave me the epidural, the assistants and the man whom was a Sheffield united supporter ( I am a Wednesday fan and told me he was giving me a sex change) ,the physio team, dinner ladies, the recovery department and especially the surgeon that carried out my operation and anybody else i have forgot to mention. They all made me feel at ease.

I was semi sedated during the operation and though I felt no pain whatsoever I could feel what was happening and would recommend.

I rigorously carried out the exercise set by the re-rehabilitation team and within 3 weeks did no longer need crutches.

I could go on and on, but being a man of few Words THANK YOU BARLBOROUGH HOSPITAL for replacing my hip and changing my life.
