"Outstanding"

About: Hastings Med P & Walkin

Our son suffered from severe constipation for over two years, in this time he might go between three and five days before emptying his bowels. This caused him extreme discomfort and distress, having a crying toddler begging us to make the pain go away and being powerless to help is heartbreaking.

In this time we visited the GP several times and took him to A&E. Initially the advice was bland with "nothing to be done" and "maybe cutting out dairy" being the best advice. Looking online gave us new ideas and we went back to the GP for prescribed medicine. Another GP showed us how to massage the bowels to encourage movement.

This helped (a little) but still our son suffered, (In our family we have a number of nurses and care workers) so their has been no shortage of guidance.

When our boy last had a severe episode we again took him to the GP, we were not hopeful but you have to keep trying.

Meeting the doctor was amazing, he spoke with our son as much as us and his manner was such that our boy remained relaxed and calm, usually he will hide in my lap.

As he made his examination he asked questions and worked through a list of possible causes and remedies, his experience and knowledge is exceptional. Eliminating potential serious conditions he outlined an adaptive treatment plan with regular reviews with possible escalation to specialists, he also predicted possible improvements and pitfalls as well as providing details of various organisations that could help us.

He also stated that if needed we could speak to reception and that they would accommodate a "that day" appointment. Our boy enjoyed the meeting and spoke positively about his Doctor.

With a new prescription and guidance on how best to administer the treatment our son has been free of pain and no longer suffers from painful constipation. We are eternally in this doctor's debt, his professionalism, knowledge and interest has cured our son of a condition that effected school attendance, play with friends, his happiness and confidence.

While the condition is now managed our son still worries about going to the toilet. The doctor had signposted us to ERIC (a charity specializing in children's bowel problems) and this has helped but their are still some problems.

Our son said that he did not want to go to the Doctors but then agreed when told he would see this doctor, good to his word he met with us, making a referral to a specialist in Eastbourne.

Having met with several GP's and A&A Doctors (who all did their best) the doctor and the team at Station Plaza have earned our trust and gratitude.

Thank you very much.
