"referred appointments"

About: Golden Jubilee National Hospital / Outpatients

(as the patient),

Having visited my GP in Feb with pains in my abdomen

she referred me to see a consultant. This referral was made on the 15th Feb I received an "invitation" to make a appointment. This letter was dated the 24/04/2018 which I received on the 03/05/2018, why did it take so long to be delivered? It was only coming from Falkirk to the Stirling area. Why does it take so long to get an appointment 12 weeks and I need to wait a further 7 weeks to the consultant? ? ? ?
