"Day Surgery at Broomfield Hospital"

About: Broomfield Hospital / General surgery

(as the patient),

I was in hospital for urology surgery as a day case in April 2018. No complaints with the care I received. However, it felt like the surgeons are no longer bothered about seeing their patients any more apart from when they are on the table. Not only did I not see the surgeon before my surgery, but he was also elusive afterwards and before my discharge the same day which very late into the evening. It would have been nice to put a face to the knife, so to speak, and to discuss any concerns with him.

From past experience there was a time when the surgeon would see you before surgery, after surgery to hopefully say all went well, and sometimes before your discharge. All I saw was the anaesthetist and the recovery room. The main man appears to have been removed from the equation as far as conversing with.

Follow up appointments aren't much better,  you never see the same person twice.
