After years of being scared of dentist, my dentist helped me through my fear and due to eating disorder and other health problems I got referred to CCDH. It's been a very long process, I had waited for a year before getting seen and to be honest I was not expecting any help. The professor agreed to implants and the students have been marvellous. My bottom teeth are great and a new secure partial made. 4 years of visits and still having treatment.
Today I was booked for a root canal, there was no guarantees this would work and while waiting for my appointment my tooth is loose, sore and infected. Hence root canal is a no no.
I have been treated so well on my visits over the past 4 years until today. The consultant who was going to do the root canal was lovely but I was told by the nurse, you will have to go to you own dentist to have the extraction. I explained. My Consultant has said to see him as and when but the nurse went through my notes and said quite bluntly, you have been treated hear for specialist work only.
I'm please the dentist checked my notes properly and I'm booked in to see the consultant who has been a star throughout my treatment.
I did leave today feeling quite low with how I was treated by the nurse and I felt like I had no rights to be treated.
On the whole I'm amazed how much I've have been help with the ongoing problems with my mouth, it's not over yet, I have a sore loose tooth and I feel a bit unsure what will happen next.
If there is one bit of input I could add is for nurse to listen before judging especially if they have not treated a patient previously as comments made like I had today is most unnerving for patients that visit CCDH almost every month.
A big thank you for all those that have helped with my treatment I'm forever grateful.
"singing the praises for my consultant and..."
