What I liked
I was admitted to the Barclay ward to have a tumor removed from my lung and was generally pleased with things (and I was feeling grumpy for obvious reasons!). The ward was very clean and a good temperature. The nurses and doctors/surgeon were very nice and took the time to explain things. Everyone was patient with my questions and helpful.
What could be improved
The one thing that was really terrible was the noise. Other people commented on this too. Although there are only upto 4 people to a cubicle there are no doors or complete walls so it is as if there are about 15 of us. That would be ok if we were quiet through the night but there were loud disturbances a few times every hour. We appreciate that right after surgey people need constant care but the nurses voices were booming. When people are trying to sleep to prepare for surgey or to recover, why can't this be taken into consideration? We don't expect whispers, just not booming - none of us in my bit slept properly because of it.
Anything else?
Would've helped A LOT lot to have a TV but maybe this wasn't practical for every person on this ward.
"Great during the day bad at night"
