Attending the Radiology department, despite being told to arrive early by the booking clerk after previous problems on other occasions, when i arrived NO ONE knew about that. Then saw a radiographer who was also dismissive of my problems previously, and clearly has communications issues with patients. I may be obese, but that does not mean I have lost my hearing nor my ability to sense disdain from a young slim radiographer. I am like most people in hospital there for a reason, my obesity has been as a direct result of spending many years in a wheelchair after multiple spinal operations from when i was not overweight, old or in constant pain.
I hope that i never have to return to the RVI radiology unit, indeed if i am told i have to i will not. One size does NOT fit all, and patients who are overweight should not be treated differently to patients who are not. I found the whole experience extremely upsetting and offensive.Interestingly there is no option for radiology on this form, why is that i wonder.?
"Judged by my size"
