"BRUCIE Course at Ayr Hospital"

About: University Hospital Ayr / Endocrinology and Diabetes

(as the patient),

I am a Type 1 Insulin dependent diabetic and had been struggling to get to grips with Carbohydrate counting and how to live a fulfilling life with Diabetes.   I attended the Better regulation using Carbohydrate and Insulin Education day provided by specialist nurses within the Diabetic team at Ayr Hospital.   And what can I say? It was absolutely fantastic!

The two ladies running the course made me feel so comfortable and be able to open up about being a diabetic and how it affects my everyday life, they were attentive and listened to any queries I had whilst providing support and guidance too! I felt this was a truly worthwhile experience for me and I have learned so much about myself and my diabetes that I wouldn't have known if I hadn't attended this course.

If anyone gets the chance to attend a BRUCIE day I would highly recommend! It's only been two weeks since I attended and I can already see the benefits of going as my blood sugars are on track again.   I cannot thank the two specialists in which provided me with an in depth insight into diabetes and for their professional and friendly approach to the education day, also to Ayr Hospital for providing this kind of education - I am truly thankful!

Dear KarlyLouise12

Thank you so much for your positive feedback of your experience at Ayr Hospital.

It is really important for us to receive feedback, positive or not so positive, so that we know what we are doing well and maybe not so well.

I have shared your comments with the clinical/management teams and I know this will give them a well deserved boost to their day.

Best wishes

John
