About: Sunderland Royal Hospital

What I liked

the builind was very clean and well looked after

What could be improved

When i had a miscarriage, the staff were far from sympathetic! They demanded I composed myself which, when you know that you are about to be told that you have lost a child, is not exactly the easiest thing to do!

Then, staff told me that they would contact everyone who I was in contact with (in relation to my pregnancy) and have failed to do so! I recieved a letter from a relating service inviting me to attend anti-natal classes which is a bit of a kick in the teeth considering I haven't exactly taken the news lightly!

Then, when i rang the department to arrange a check up scan after my MMC, i was left on the phone while the woman discussed another woman's next step now that she knew she was having a healthy baby boy, again, another huge kick in the teeth!!!

Also, members of my family who have stayed in the hospital have also been treat poorly. My mum was left for 10 minutes before they removed her bed pan from her as she had spinal surgery and could not move, they have also messed her appointments about since said surgery and have been anything but helpful, especially as she has 3 children and caring for them when she can barely walk is extremely difficult for her and she is in pain 90% of the time!
