What I liked
St Albans hospital is clearly well maintaintained by all staff and they work in a very professional manner. The hospital is well managed.
What could be improved
My issue is one of communication. My father in law was well cared for on Friday when he came in for day surgery. He was told that he would have to stay in overnight and that he could be collected the following morning. This was fine and the family made the necessary plans to cater for this including making arrangements for my mother in law to spend the night with us as she was unhappy being in her home on her own at night. At 6.00pm or thereabouts the hospital called to say that subject to his passing water twice he could be released on Friday evening, which he did. This meant all our plans had to be changed. My complaint is not that he should not have been discharged on Friday evening but that we should have been told that there was a good chance that he might be so the family knew not to make any plans that evening which as was the case had to be changed at short notice.
