What I liked

The care shown by the day staff

What could be improved

The care shown by the night staff. Most noticeably the compulsory 6am wake up call for "obs" a full hour before the "meds" round. Is it really necessary to wake sick people up at 6am when admissions are made as late as 1030pm with resulting activity for up to an hour plus night bells taking time to be answered. everyone was asleep at 6 - mending whilst they slept.

I was told i had to be woken at 6am for "0bs" because the management insisted upon it. well management its up to you to uninsist. leave the sleeping patients to beneficial sleep until "meds" are needed. 6am is totally unjustified.

Anything else?

I do realise that these obs have to be done, but if the previous regular readings have been abnormal I would expect better monitoring anyway, so I can't see the clinical/service/care need for obs at 6am.

I was also concerned that day staff did 14 hours, three meals all but 7am meds etc etc. 10 hr night staff had it easy and showed it by slow response time to night bells.

The day staff were helpful willing kind caring and thoughtful
