I was admitted to the AEC by my GP with a bad cough which had gone on for about 4 months and was getting worse.
I am 76 and was apprehensive about possibly being kept in as I had never been in hospital overnight in my life.
I would like to give some feedback on the care and treatment I received. We hear so much carping and criticism of the NHS these days but my clear view at the end of my few days of treatment was that there was absolutely no sign of such problems at Musgrove. Everything about my care and treatment was exemplary. All the staff, from reception and nurses to doctors up to the consultant, were thoroughly professional and meticulous in everything they did and took great pains to explain every part of their investigation. A clear cause of my problem was reached and I was allowed home with antibiotics and didn't have to stay overnight after all!
I would like particularly to commend the two young lady doctors who dealt with me - Rebecca and Juliet - sorry I cant recall their surnames. They were painstaking and genuinely caring and a great example of an NHS working at it's best.
"An NHS working at it's best."
