"Me and my mental health"

I had a mental breakdown in December 2015. Since then I've begged for help. I was seen in October 2016 and put on a very long list. I was seen yesterday and told I will be cured if I take anger management classes.

I waited two and half years to be told I'm ok and not suffering with mental health.

Yes , ok . Very professional and made me feel very comfortable

I’m really sorry that you experienced such a wait to see someone to discuss your mental health, and I can understand the frustration you are feeling, particularly in terms of not getting the type of proactive communication about this that you would like and indeed expect.

There are two things to address – first of all is to get more information about your personal situation, so we can establish which service has been involved in your care. The other issue is about the waiting time, which I hope to address once I have established which service you were waiting to see. Since acquiring Manchester Mental Health and Social Care NHS Trust in January 2017, we have introduced a number of initiatives to improve access to services. We have taken proactive steps to address waiting times and there are a wide range of quality improvement projects in place encouraging staff to be actively involved in improving services.
