"False target achievements"

About: Royal Sussex County Hospital / Gastroenterology

(as the patient),

I have been rung the day before the 18 week target was about to expire and offered an appointment and, on 2 occasions, an admission for surgery the following day.

As I am still employed full-time within the NHS I cannot drop everything and attend an appointment at such short notice without affecting the care of the patients I care for.

I have therefore had to decline this then of couse means they meet their target as i have declined the appointment they have offered within the 18 week target.

I then have to wait a considerable length of time for them to offer another appointment.

This sounds very frustrating.

We might be able to help you stop things like this happening again. The Brighton and Hove LINk is a health and adult social care watchdog that works independently of the NHS and the government. We have the power to hold the people at the top to account for issues like this and have a good track record of getting changes made. Although we can’t take on your individual case, if these sorts of problems have happened to other people as well we can take it on as a priority and seek action. All we need is for you to complete a quick ‘issues’ form to log this problem with us. Is this something you would like to do?
