Coming from Ireland to terminate a much-wanted baby with a fatal foetal abnormality was heartbreaking enough without having to worry about what kind of care we would receive in another country. Well we need not have worried. From the reception desk, to the nurses and midwifes, the doncaster clinic was a beacon of kindness, care and compassion for my husband and I. We were treated with such dignity as was our baby daughter when she arrived. I wish I could name the individual midwives who cared for me they were so wonderful. It felt like I had my own mother in the room with me. I had chosen to have a late medical termination so that I could take my daughter's remains back home and have a burial with family so I knew that it would be a difficult time for me physically. But the midwives were with me every step of the way & always stayed calm and in control. I cannot thank them enough for making such a horrendous decision bearable and dignified. They were so kind to my husband also, allowing him to stay in the room with me as it was only a two bed room and the other bed was unoccupied. However they respected the privacy of the other girls at the clinic and always made sure my husband was accompanied on trips to the bathroom etc. These women are angels and I will never forget their care.
"Exceptional care, kindness and compassion"
