"trying to force medication on people when its..."

I opened up to this service and stated I did not want to take medication despite this I was told that I would not be offered anything unless I went and took medication, despite the fact I am just trying to resolve issues from my past I am stable and able to have a conversation but because I smoke cannabis apparently they will be unable to get any sense out of me, so will not help me despite my condition being ptsd and cannabis has been used to treat ptsd in other countries, the ignorance of the service is pathetic. as being able to engage in therapy would have helped me to cut down on cannabis by working through my issues but their idea is to stop that take some chemicals that didn't agree with me before so we can talk. wow, and these people are meant to help people with mental health conditions I now feel increasingly isolated due to this and now I have literally nowhere to turn too for help unless I take meds that I don't need. useless waste of time highly insulting wouldn't recommend this service to anyone ever

We are really sorry to hear that your experience with IAPT has caused you so much distress.

In regard to the specifics of your comments, we do not provide advice or offer medication in our service as we only offer psychological therapies.

In regard to your use of cannabis, we would not routinely withhold treatment from someone unless the use of cannabis would have a significant impact on their ability to undertake therapy.

We would be really keen to meet with you to talk through your individual circumstances and to see if there is a way we can work together to ensure that you get the help that you require. Please give the IAPT team a call on the main number 01908 725099 or email me directly on jon.olsen@nhs.net.
