My mum is a frequent visitor to the hospital and has visited many of the wards. On her last attendance she was a patient on Astley Ward and I would like to give feedback on this ward. No other ward she has been on has been bad but the staff on Astley Ward were just amazing. My mum has Alzheimer's and is coming towards the end of her life. The staff here looked after her with the up most care and respect and I am so grateful to them for this. The communication is excellent and the ward manager is also excellent. Not only with my mum I witnessed them with lots of patients. Nurses and healthcare assistants all treated the patients with care and respect. It was the little touches. I witnessed nurses regularly tucking patients in that had fallen asleep. Genuinely talking to upset patients who were confused and spending time to calm them down. I cannot explain everything but it was the genuine care they had for patient's and relatives. They were very busy but never to busy to care. It is the best I have seen. Thank you, you are credit to your profession.
