"Refused counselling"

Having left an abusive relationship, sold the family home and moved to a completely new area where we knew no one, by depression reared its ugly head.

I visited my GP in Dec 2017, I finally got an appointment in April 2018.

In the meantime, the abusibe ex took me to court for access to our children. He already had access and this was nothing but malicious. As a result I took an overdose, where I was also treated badly!

I turn up for my appointment and mention on-going court case. The session is stopped and it's explained that it's the policy of insight healthcare that they do not see people with on-going court hearings. I smiled politely, said my goodbye as their was talk about discharging me from their service.... only to be absoultly furious when I left.

It's no wonder people wind up dead through depression. I feel like a common criminal. Myself and my family have suffered enough and this has been very much a last straw.

I am an NHS nurse, never before have I felt so utterly failed by the NHS. Disgusting!

Insight Healthcare are really sorry to hear that the experience you had with our service was not good.

In relation to the information that you have explained, if someone is involved in a court case, then we would look to discuss this with you as it is out policy to review the appropriateness of the type of therapy and the focus of this so as to offer coping strategies to support the impact of this as opposed to processing any aspects related to the case. The rationale for this is that in legal terms, this could be seen as 'coaching the witness.' We therefore apologise if this was not made clear to you and or any alternative options provided. We do take all concerns seriously and would welcome the opportunity to speak with you in more detail about your experience. If you would kindly contact the service on 0300 555 5555, or via email at admin.kent@insighthealthcare.org, our senior team would be pleased to discuss it with you further.
