"I came home feeling reassured."

About: Royal Bournemouth General Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

I was taken in to A & E via my doctor's surgery, for heart symptoms.

I have nothing but the highest praise for all the staff, from the gentleman with the tea trolley right through to the doctors.

The care and kindness was second to none and although I spent a long time there and eventually got home mid-evening (blood tests take a long time with intervals in between) I couldn't have asked for a higher level of care and expertise.  We are very ready to grumble but we must remember to praise the efforts of these wonderful people who work so hard to look after us.  For me every avenue was explored and I came home feeling reassured, only to receive an appointment for the Cardiac Clinic so quickly.

Many thanks to all who looked after me;  I couldn't have asked for more.

Dear ‘hoarhound’

We are very fortunate at the Trust to receive many more comments of praise than criticism from this website and we are pleased to know that you are one of the many patients who have experienced the care, kindness and expertise of our staff in the Emergency Department.

We appreciate we don’t always get it right and value the ‘grumbles’ from unhappy patients as they provide us an opportunity to reflect and learn from those events that went less well.

It is good to know that you were reassured by the tests carried out and also your understanding that the results can take a little time in order to offer a complete diagnosis. It sounds like the wait gave you an opportunity to experience the kindness from the tea round man, who I am sure will be pleased for the mention.

Thank you for your kind comments which I will pass on to the Matron to share with the rest of her team. They will be happy to know that the care they gave and they information they shared with you meant you could go home feeling reassured.

Regards

Patient Engagement Team
