"Not good."

About: North Tyneside General Hospital

The smell was over powering, treatment did not happen when my sister was admitted on the understanding she was given iv anti biotics. Her infected arm was to be placed in a sling which no staff seemed capable of doing it was left to visitors. As for 'Bank night staff ' well just don't go there. Needless to say she came home far worse than when she went in. My sister has cancer on memo now infected arm. Terrible

Dear VLowes,

Your review has just arrived in my inbox and I wanted to respond immediately. There is no part of the care that you describe that is acceptable for patients in our care and I’m naturally concerned by the shortfalls in compassion and safety that you identify. I am genuinely sorry that this has been your experience.

It is essential that my organisation follows this up immediately but because your post is anonymous I can’t be clear about the ward your relative was on nor speak to the staff concerned. Please contact me on Annie.laverty@nhct.nhs.uk so that I can understand more ?

With thanks for your willingness to work with me on this.

Annie Laverty,

Director of patient experience
