"Excellent service"

About: Bradford Royal Infirmary / Accident and emergency

After experiencing chest pain the previous evening and during the night I telephoned 111 service and an ambulance was sent to assess my condition.I do have a pacemaker and I thought the pulse seemed erratic during the night. The paramedics were friendly, thorough in their procedures and whilst advising me that there appeared to be nothing serious, gave me the option to attend A & E.

My wife joined me in the ambulance and on arrival at 8.15 on 15 th April I was greeted by the A & E staff, received blood tests etc and an ECG at about 8.30. Within 10 minutes I saw the consultant who asked me about my symptoms and made an examination. He confirmed that I probably had a virus and that my temperature and sore throat pointed to this conclusion.

The consultant confirmed that the pain in my chest was nothing untoward and that I would probably experience flu type symptoms over next few days. I felt reassured and his diagnosis proved correct.

The paramedics,A & E staff and consultant were understanding at all times and told me exactly what they were doing and explained why.

Although I realise now that I was concerned unnecessarily I did appreciate the reassurance given and know that I can rely on your friendly efficient service.

Dear Terry, Thank you for that fantastic feedback, that must have been quite worrying and I am so glad to hear that the ambulance service and our own staff looked after you well and were able to reassure you and explain what was happening. We will of course pass this onto them and they will be very encouraged by this.
