We've had to change GPs as we don't wish to put our children's health at risk. Recently on two occasions an Otoscope was shared between two children and both ears. The first time I was surprised and failed to mention it, wasn't entirely sure I had seen correctly! The removable supposed sterile part of the otoscope was already on the machine. The second time this occurred I noticed and had to point it out to the Dr, who apologised. The infection of my two year old that was to be treated was diagnosed as a middle ear infection, the antibiotics prescribed didn't work, one morning four days later we woke to a lethargic, hot, crying two year old who kept falling over. So we immediately tried to get an emergency appointment with the GP. No appointments for a week so we went to urgent care at local hospital where the Dr in attendance was surprised that we were given the diagnosis for a middle ear infection when it was an outer ear infection. As a consequence he prescribed a spray which cleared up the problem within 48hours. This experience was the straw that broke the camel's back for us. We have been with this surgery for over ten years, in that time we have put up with the problems and issues that a busy under pressure surgery has to deal with. But now having children we can not take the risk. We have since moved Doctors.
