"Admitted for alchohol withdrawal..."

I was admitted with severe alcohol withdrawal, having gone cold turkey because nobody would give me the right help, my GP refused me detox, addaction merely gave advice not therapy or councilling etc, I was desperate. I was worried I would be regarded as a waste of resources, but I had my diary with me that documented all the attempts id made to get help. I encountered a wonderful sympathetic dr in A & E who agreed to admit me and detox me. Whilst on the ward I was treated with utmost respect and sympathy, I was there for 5 days and discharged with further medication. This hospital saved my life, they gave me everything I had begged other people to give me. My life has improved dramatically I'm showering every day eating breakfeast, and 2 other meals a day, I'm very weak but managing to get out a little further each day.

My family are so relieved, its just a shame that I had to end up in such a severe condition to get the right help.
