"Good gone bad"

About: Newcastle Dental Hospital

Sadly after receiving wonderful care I have finally found out today why I have failed to receive any appointments.

I have rang three times this year to chase appointments and was told each time I was being re-assigned to another student as my original had graduated hence the delay and request to contact notes were on the system.

My hygienist appointments were delayed as agreed as the dental side were not continuing with their work/it was delayed and ongoing issues were now met with new dental problems arrising. I have genuinely missed one appointment as I confused the day of treatment(usually Thu but it was Tue)

With no warning or contact I have now been told I am discharged because of these appointment changes!

So all in all my teeth are in a worse condition to when I originally started treatment.

My last actual appointment was for follow up for a problematic extraction(dry socket) which left me in agony for two weeks. The last time I heard from the student himself was a telephone call to confirm the next appointment being cancelled due to being in pain so unable to have the next planned treatment.

I am very disheartened by the whole experience and now feel left in the lurch.

Communication between departments has clearly been terrible and now this has resulted in me being discharged and not even made aware of it in any shape or form.

I was not to foresee problems resulting in cancellations/re-arrangements of appointments and thought these were being managed appropriately between departments and my file was simply on hold.

Yes we commit to treatment but I also feel work commitments and treatment complications should factor into these decisions.

Patients should be contacted in the first instance to be updated on a possible discharge and shouldn’t have to make numerous calls and wait four months to simply be told they are removed from a system discharged and can no longer receive care.
