"Outstanding"

My (almost) 10 month daughter has suffered a burn to her palm and the practice has accommodated an urgent appointment to be seen in a very timely manner accompanied by mum.

As her case was not straightforward, the GP has sought further advice and opinion from two GP colleagues, the practice liaised with the local hospital and then with Broomfield hospital for further advice as they have specialist burns unit.

Following the assessment, my daughter was referred to local A&E.

As a parent first and an experienced GP practice manager second, I would like to highlight the following:

- my child was not automatically signposted to A&E and the practice took their responsibility seriously, assessed whether the case can be managed in primary care setting and made the appropriate referral.

- there was visible collaboration and leadership within the clinical team.

- my better half was provided with the record of the consultation, making it easy for other family members to understand the clinical opinion, relieving the burden on the distressed mum to pass the message on relying only on her memory.

- appropriate advice and safety netting were given

Looking at some of the negative reviews here I can only say that I want my daughters practice to be safe, effective and responsive above trying to please everyone and I am very happy for her to have access to such a practice, particularly under the current stress that NHS primary care is under .

On other occasions the routine care, (imms, healtchecks etc.) has been smooth with timely reminders/recalls, appropriate advice, information regarding local services etc.
