"My Mum's care"

About: Biggart Hospital

(as a service user),

My Mum got diagnosed with an aggressive stage 4 cancer a month ago. She was 79.

Ayr hospital asked her if she would like to go to the hospice, but she chose the Biggart as she saw how well they looked after my Dad when he was in years earlier.

She was moved to the McMillan ward 3 weeks ago.

From the moment she went in, the care, dignity and empathy she was shown by every single one of the staff there was just amazing.  As was the kindness they had shown to myself and my family.

I can’t put in to words just how brilliant they are.

We sadly lost my mum this week but this brilliant lot made the hardest experience of my life easier.

I will be forever thankful to every one of them from the nurses, to the auxiliaries, to the porters. What a team!

A million thank yous!

I respond initially to most of the posts and ensure they are passed to the appropriate team whether they are compliments, observations or grumbles. It is important to make sure all issues are addressed and I try to encourage that to happen for all the posts as required.

Dear Angela 71,

I am so sorry to hear about your mum, it is always so difficult and sad to lose someone so special. It is a testament to both you and the team that you are taking time to pass on your "million thank yous" so soon after your loss; thank you so very much. I will be delighted to make sure the team see this and I know they will be appreciate it very much.

Take care and best wishes,

Eunice

Dear Angela 71,

Thank you so much for this feedback, it is always lovely to hear that patients and families have felt well supported by staff. I have shared this with McMillan ward staff who have asked to me to add their thanks for the kind feedback.

Kind regards
