I had been told by a GP to “get back to us” if things don’t improve.
They hadn’t, and after realising there were changes that alarmed me, plus lot of worry and deep discussion with my other half, I spoke to a GP I had never seen before - and it was more like being reprimanded in a disciplinary hearing by a contemptuous self important officer than asking a GP for help.
I was thoroughly put in my place (which was obviously that of a nuisance) rather than listened to with any kind of sensitivity.
Most people (including me) dont ask for support and/or help unless we are alarmed by a new problem, or change to an existing one.
The phrase “what do you expect me” to do was, from memory, used, (and not by me).
I was cut short when trying to explain something, (a couple of changes to my problem which had not been covered previously) and then given some so-called facts, some of which I disputed as they weren’t quite accurate.
The tone became nastier as this GP made it quite clear they had no time for me.
Most of the GP’s I am familiar with at Seldon are not listed any more - either retired or moved on.
It looks like I should find another surgery.
Incidentally - I was made to feel that my medical care was a privilege - In fact it’s been a right since 1948.
Wonder if this GP knows that?
