"Taking Forever"

About: Colchester General Hospital / Urology

I came to the hospital as an emerency patient in July 2015 unable to pass urine.

I have had 3 operations (2 flexible cystoscopy), (1 rigid cyctoscopy).

The doctors have stated that my prostate is rnormal.

They suggested a Trial Without Catheter (TWOC). This was a failure.

They then suggested I try self cathetisation. The nurses have said that this would be impossible because of the difficulty. With urethral catheterisation. If often takes 3 to 4 attenpts and bleeding from my penis.I have been several times for appointments to learn self cathetisation and told that I am unsuitable and it would caause problems.

It has been sugested by the nurses that I should try long term suprapubic catheterisation to improve my urine flow and hopefully negate the need for a catheter.

I now have to wait another 2 months to see the urology doctors. If they agree with the nurses then they will make an appointment for me to have the operation.

So I think there will be at least aanother 6-10 months of waiting.

This will bring my wait time to 3.5 years before I can lead anything like a normal life again.

I hate to think what it is like if my caase were less urgent. I am fed up with the care I receive when I am not at the hospital. The care when I am at the hospital is very good.

I cannot even enter the year on your drop down list because it doesn't go back that far!
