"A&E visit 3rd April"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Queen's Medical Centre Campus / Accident and emergency

I attended A&E with my husband 3rd April when he was advised to attend by his GP because of chest pain. The male receptionist wasn't very friendly or responsive and took some time without speaking to us before asking us to take a seat. After a short wait my husband was seen by the streaming nurse who was very reassuring and compassionate. He was the quickly seen for further assessment, ECG, blood tests etc. The Nurses, Doctors and Practitioners were all very kind, kept us informed and comfortable. The XRay was organised and quickly undertaken. He was reassured before being discharged and further outpatient assessments were arranged. Also a big shout out for the lovely friendly volutary lady who provided us with a cup of tea and offer of a sandwich or snack whilst waiting.. This was a lovely, unexpected touch. Ourr experience was much better than anticipated. A big thank you to all the staff.

We are really grateful for your message – thank you. I am sorry to hear you found the first person you had contact with in the department to be unfriendly, though pleased that this aside you felt you and your husband experienced a good standard of care from the Emergency Department.

I’ve shared your feedback with the team so that we can remind everyone about the values and behaviours we expect, and we have shared your message of thanks with our wonderful volunteers who make a vital contribution to the experience of our patients and their families.

Best wishes to you and your husband

Jane Newton
