"Being able to know when an operation is to happen..."

About: University Hospital (Coventry)

What I liked

My sister is waiting for a back operation at your hospital. No date has been given and even though she calls every week, no care has been taken to advise her when this will be possible. She cannot walk and needs a back spine fusion. Can you tell me why no date is given?

She has needed this operation for over two years now. It became critcal as of March 2011.

There can be many complex reasons why an operation has not been performed on a patient and while we are grateful for feedback on the care we provide, it is often beneficial to have more information on the patient so that we can carry out a full investigation, with the patients consent.

I would ask that you contact our PALS (Patient Advice and Liaison Service) team in any of the following ways: by phone 0800 028 4203; by email PALS@uhcw.nhs.uk; in person through the Help Desk at University Hospital, Monday to Friday (excluding Bank Holidays) 9am -12.30pm and 1pm – 5pm or in writing to: Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) Trust Administration Centre, University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust, University Hospital, Clifford Bridge Road, Coventry, CV2 2DX so that they can look into and respond to your queries.
