About: South Yorkshire Housing Association Limited / Building Better Opportunities

(as a service user),

I was supported to gain more confidence in my everyday life. I had been at such a low point in my life that I didn’t want to go out, see anyone, or even stay alive on some occasions. The help I received was invaluable and helped me to open up and see a more positive future. I was shown tools to work with that enabled me to start to change my life around. 

 I also received help and support to be able Try to gain employment. This was supposed to be the main focus but I wasn’t in the right place mentally to be able to do this at first. The service has been a very positive experience for me. I felt that Jennie in particular has been excellent.  She is so compassionate, non judgmental and shows such empathy towards what are at times very difficult emotive problems to deal with. Her problem solving ability has helped me to move forward in life and I would like to say a special thank you for the help provided to me. I would recommend this service to others as long as you are willing to engage and help yourself too. 

On the down side, other issues were brought to the forefront which needed to be dealt with but because it didn’t involve actively seeking employment at this time, the service has been ‘pulled’. I now have new major issues to deal with though and feel that my support has been ended too abruptly. I am now left to go ahead to manage alone and it’s looking very dark ahead indeed.

Thank you for taking the time to provide such detailed feedback. It is great to hear that the service was a positive experience which has helped you to move forward. As you mentioned, we are a time limited support service based on supporting people into employment. I hope you continue to use the tools we have provided you with and we will be more than happy to signpost you to services that will be able to support you moving forward.
