I had been on the waiting list to have my gallbladder removed for some time due to other abdominal issues I was having and it was decided I had to have further investigations carried out prior to having my surgery. This seemed to me to be perfectly wise and I did not mind having to wait.
I had intimated to the schedulers that I would be prepared to take a short notice cancellation appointment and I received a phone call inviting me to attend for surgery at 8:00am the next day.
I had my surgery without any complications and was allowed home by 6:00pm on same day.
I cannot praise highly enough all of the staff I came in contact with from receptionists, clinical support workers, nurses, surgeon and anaesthetists.
All staff were totally professional and really put me at ease. Procedures were explained in a way which was easily understood.
It frustrates me when I read or hear negativity directed towards our NHS. Whilst it might not be perfect, it is a system which we should be extremely proud of and it is only as good as the people in it.
We would not have an excellent health service unless we have excellent staff within it and my recent experience tells me that we have the best.
"We have the best staff"
